Welcome to my website! My name is Eric Henty, a practicing professional artist for 30 years.
Why did I become an artist? A variety of factors pushed me to be an artist.
- I come from a family of artists, parents, and grandparents.
- I had a very challenging experience when I was a young man overseas. When I returned home, I could not work and needed to recover and convalesce. I found creating art a natural focus for me, and it continued to be a touch point for the rest of my life.
- I found creating artwork was a way of self-discovery and transformation. It allowed me to explore ideas and express myself which was not only very therapeutic but also very life-expanding. The creativity I have fostered in creating art has spilled over to many areas of my life, spawning my curiosity in many other areas of life itself.
- I taught art to special education students for 20 years and found it very rewarding and challenging. It also fueled my artwork and creativity.
So why a website on Picasso, his origins and legacy? Throughout my art career, I have been influenced by him, and have seen his influence in other artist’s work. It has been fascinating to see the development of his own artwork. How he forged his own styles by standing on the bones of artists that had gone before him, and then carrying their ideas on to further heights in his artwork.
I have been inspired by other artists too, including Marc Chagall, Bacon, David Hockney, Frida Kahlo, and Salvador Dali.

Presently, I live and work in Brooklyn, NY with my wife. She is an inspiration for me, and continues to be my best art critic. We are both bohemians in character and personality, and people have referred to us as “twins”. She observes my artwork in process, making invaluable suggestions in composition, subject matter, and color. We have a son who is in college forging his way into a life of his choosing.
